Springtime is about to come and the desire to spend time in contact with nature is great.
From North to South of Italy there are a series of events that put spring in first place, but there is only one with the Apulian Almond theme.
An innovative project is about to be born in the heart of the Alta Murgia National Park, which sees the Apulian Almond as the fulcrum of all activities.
Mandorland activities will start next month… and to find out what it is you have to keep reading this article.
Mandorland: a dream that smells of Apulian Almond
In the territory of the Alta Murgia National Park, the territorial theme park of the almond of Puglia, called Mandorland, is about to be born.
The territory included is the one that produces one of the best almonds in the world: the Toritto Almond.
The project stems from a process started a few years ago and intends to make the Apulian almond "product" the thematic element for enhancing the territory.
Mandorland wants to be an avant-garde project in the process of enhancing territories that are still little known, but beautiful to take your breath away.
The Alta Murgia National Park does not only offer Apulian almonds: lesser kestrels dominate a barren land, at times arid, made of blades, sinkholes and ancient sheep tracks.
And it is in this very characteristic territory that Mandorland and Fattoria della Mandorla want to welcome tourists and lovers of trekking and nature.
Mandorland: the opening event
The inaugural event of the Mandorland project scheduled for March 28 will have the Fattoria della Mandorla as the meeting place and starting point of the trek.
From here the participants, following an ancient tratturello that laps rows of Apulian almond trees, will head westwards and pass Lamadenza.
From here they will reach the Masseria della Città located inside the Bitonto wood.
The trek to discover the Apulian Almond will continue within the reforested area to reach the ancient Jazzo di Pietre Tagliate with its beautiful eight-headed milking machine.
After the "visit" of the ancient Jazzo, the participants will return to the Fattoria della Mandorla following a slightly different path than the first leg.
Useful info: Participants will arrive at the farm at 9.00 and after registration at 9.30 the trekking will start.
The trekking route will be a multi-sensorial experience that takes place within the area of the Alta Murgia National Park, starting from the territory of Toritto to reach the territory of Bitonto.
Technical data of the route: Total length 13.00 Km. Total difference in height (positive and negative) 480 meters, maximum gradient 21.4%.
Total estimated time 5 hours. Return to the company at 3.00 pm. Packed lunch is recommended.
